Dress Me Up

Welcome to Paperidollatry. This blog came about after discovering a reproduction  book of paperdolls tucked in a corner of Foyles book-store. Published in 1952, Here Comes the Bride features not just the Bride & Groom, but the whole bridal party and pages of watercolor illustrations (Betty Anderson) of early fifties fashions.

Growing up my favourite treat was getting to pick a new book of paperdolls from the local stationers and the joy of dressing up those little figures is carried through into the happiness I get from sewing.

A side project to lazystitching, Paperidollatry is my motivation to revive that source of inspiration and an excuse to sew vintage on even when it doesn't fit in my modern life. Each month, I will pick an inspiration drawing from a paperdoll and make the garment in a life size version. Some will be full on vintage and others will use the picture as a starting point. I hope you like it!
